Ice rink to become annual attraction as 11,000 flock to Beckworth

An ice rink is set to become an annual attraction at Beckworth Emporium after more than 10,000 people flocked to the rink during its first winter.

The stunning rink opened at the end of November, taking centre stage at the emporium during the Christmas period.

Before closing on January 10, Beckworth recorded that 10,966 people had taken to the ice at theSkaters at Beckworth Emporium Mears Ashby site.

“It’s been an overwhelming success,” said Beckworth Emporium co-owner David Brown. “We had anticipated that the ice rink would be a popular feature over Christmas, but didn’t expect the 11,000 ticket sales. It has proved to be so popular that we have decided to make it an annual attraction.”

Beckworth provided visitors with top-quality skates, an indoor skate exchange area, indoor and outdoor viewing areas, push-along aides for small children and festive rink-side refreshments. Evening skaters were also entertained with music and light shows.

The popularity of the ice rink has topped off a very successful inaugural year for the emporium which opened in April.
